Sebastian Koh

Principal Trombone

Sebastian Koh’s first musical instrument was the Euphonium, which he first played as a student in St. Patrick's School and was later introduced to the trombone at age 15 by Brando Tan. Sebastian pursued his interest in music at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts where he was played in the school's chamber orchestra and wind ensemble.

 

During his National Service, Sebastian was a musician with the Singapore Armed Forces Central Band whom he travelled with to India and Malaysia to participate in military tattoos.

 

Following his stint with the SAF Central Band, he returned to the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from the NAFA-University of Wales programme. While there, he again studied trombone with Fredi Sonderegger and conducting with Volker Hartung. After college, Sebastian continued to study with Shannon Pittaway for a year and he has also performed for Denis Wick and Scott Hartman.

 

Sebastian was part of the Anglo-Chinese School Wind Orchestra that won 1st prize at the 2014 Singapore International Band Festival. Currently Sebastian performs with The Metropolitan Festival Orchestra, The Philharmonic Winds and an Oktoberfest band, The Swiss Alpine Lions.
